IS SYDNEY ON YOUR SHORTLIST?

Three reasons to consider Sydney.

Flexible study choices

A broad range of undergraduate majors and minors, with combinations shaped by your chosen degree.

Specialist campuses

From Westmead to the Conservatorium of Music, Sydney’s teaching locations reflect different disciplines. Your course determines where you study.

Preparation pathways

Taylors College offers undergraduate preparation programs. Progression depends on meeting course requirements and any place limits.

YOUR COURSE COMES FIRST

What could you study—and what will you need?

Study areas to explore

  • Business
  • Engineering
  • Science
  • Arts and social sciences
  • Law
  • Architecture, design and planning
  • Medicine and health

Examples, not a complete course list. Available study levels depend on the individual course.

Applying from Saudi Arabia or the Gulf

For students living in Saudi Arabia or the Gulf, the starting point is the qualification you hold. Sydney recognises qualifications including the IB Diploma and GCE A Levels, alongside specified national qualifications. Recognition alone does not guarantee admission: the chosen course’s grades and other requirements still apply.

What we’ll help you check

  • Your academic background. Undergraduate entry depends on your recognised qualification and course requirements. Postgraduate requirements vary by degree; we can help relate your previous studies to your shortlist.
  • Your application documents. A university application normally needs academic certificates, transcripts, identity and English-language evidence. Non-English documents need acceptable translations; some courses also request a portfolio or personal statement.
  • Your intended start. Available intakes and closing dates depend on the course. Scholarship deadlines may be earlier, so we can plan both together.

For research degrees, previous research experience, a proposal and faculty-specific supervisor arrangements also matter. No documents are needed for your first Masiratna enquiry.

CAMPUS & EVERYDAY LIFE

Your campus and everyday life.

Camperdown/Darlington is the main campus, but your course may use other teaching locations. Accommodation options include university residences, residential colleges and off-campus housing. Availability, inclusions and travel time to class are important considerations.

FEES & FUNDING

Understanding your study budget.

International tuition fees

There is no single Sydney tuition fee: the amount depends on your course, study load and year. Published annual figures are not the total cost of a degree, and fees can increase each year.

A realistic budget also includes accommodation, everyday living costs, travel, Overseas Student Health Cover and the Student Services and Amenities Fee. An application processing fee and course-related costs may also apply.

Masiratna can help you compare the current fee for your chosen course with these other expenses. Your university offer confirms the initial payment required; a scholarship should only be included in your budget once it is awarded.

Scholarships to explore

Two examples for international coursework applicants—not a complete list or a promise of funding.

Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships Scheme
Eligible international bachelor’s and coursework master’s applicants with an unconditional offer by the relevant round deadline are considered automatically. Awards are competitive, worth up to A$60,000 and not renewed in later years. Some amounts are restricted to particular groups; recipients of the Sydney International Student Award are capped at A$40,000.
Sydney International Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship
A separate application is required for this competitive award covering tuition and the Student Services and Amenities Fee for eligible single undergraduate degrees, up to four years. Course, qualification and nationality selection criteria apply; applicants generally must not have begun tertiary study. Living costs, health cover and travel are not included.

Availability, selection and ongoing conditions apply. We can help you check the current terms for your intake before you make financial plans.

YOUR SYDNEY QUESTIONS

Before you take the next step.

Can I discuss a Sydney application while living in Saudi Arabia or the Gulf?

Yes. We can discuss your qualifications, results and course interests with you, then help you understand the relevant requirements. Academic eligibility depends on your educational background and chosen course, not simply where you live.

Do I need IELTS if I studied in English?

Not necessarily. Certain previous studies or other approved tests can meet Sydney’s English requirements. The standard IELTS Academic requirement is 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0, but some courses require different scores. Tests normally need to be no more than two years old when the course starts. English-medium study does not automatically give an exemption; we can help check the evidence for your course.

What does a conditional offer mean?

It means the university has offered a place subject to outstanding requirements. These could include final academic results or English-language evidence. The offer letter sets out the conditions and relevant deadlines. Masiratna can help you understand what is outstanding; an initial enquiry or application is not an admission offer.

What should I prepare before speaking with Masiratna?

Your course interests, qualification name, latest results and preferred start date give us a useful starting point. It is fine if you have not decided on a course yet. No document uploads are needed for an initial enquiry; your counsellor can explain what will be needed later.
